Mandate

À l’école de la vue has a mandate to:

• organize vision screening in schools, carried out by optometrists, for all children in 4- and 5-year-old kindergarten, including schools located in remote regions;
• develop awareness programs for parents of children aged 3 to 5 years old to underline the importance of a comprehensive eye exam before starting kindergarten.

A working committee was created to monitor the project’s implementation and to oversee measures related to ensuring the quality of the screening program, including the free and informed consent of parents.

Each year, more than 90,000 children start school in some 2,000 public schools with kindergarten classes. The teams of the À l’école de la vue project are excited to go meet these children, in order to promote visual health and support their educational success.
